Welcome to AMR Kartsport
With 25 years of motorsport experience and Championships in Karts, Formula Ford and V8 Supercars, AMR Kartsport can help take you to the next level.
Specialising in all aspects of karting from engine blueprinting and development to chassis set-up and driver training.
Adam Macrow commenced his karting career at the age of seven, winning the Club Championships at Oakleigh Go-kart Racing Club in his first year. He went on to win two National titles, six State titles and numerous other Championships over the course of his karting career. This was all achieved in Juniors, as Adam only ever raced in Seniors once before making the move into Open Wheelers.
Adam got his Cams licence at the age of fifteen and completed one year in Formula Vee. After that, things got serious. He embarked on a three year campaign for the Australian Formula Ford Championship. The first of those three years was spent competing in the Victorian State Series in order to learn the car, whilst the second was spent competing in the full Australian Championship in order to learn all the tracks. Adam finished in 8th place in the Australian Championship in that second year.
The third and final year was make or break! Adam excelled by taking six consecutive poles positions and round wins. Adam was crowned the 1998 Australian Formula Ford Champion adding his name to a very special list of drivers.
Since then, Adam has competed in ten V8 Supercar Bathurst 1000 races, with a notable 3rd place finish in 2005 for Triple Eight Race Engineering. He also won the V8 Supercar Development Series Championship in 2006 when driving for Howard Racing.
AMR was born in 2005 when Adam started looking after V8 team owner Mark Howard’s sons, Sam and Jack, in karts. From 2005 to 2007, whilst based on the Gold Coast, Adam built their engines for Rookies and Midgets and had good success. It was this success, combined with Adam’s personal karting history, that brought other customers to him and before he knew it, he had a business! Both Howard boys won State titles during their time with Adam and Jack also finished a fantastic 2nd place at the 2007 Nationals held at Eastern Creek in Junior National Light.
AMR relocated to Adam’s hometown of Melbourne late in 2007. Upon his return, Adam negotiated to become a major part of long-standing Kart shop, DP Karts. At DP Karts, Adam’s role consisted of all engine tuning and development, chassis setup and driver training, including looking after drivers such as Mathew Brabham, Jake Spencer and Jake Dixon. In the first six months, AMR won two State titles and had three podiums at the Nationals in Tasmania.
Adam now offers this same service - engine tuning, driver development and chassis tuning - from his workshop in Mornington, Victoria.
